Swahili Instructor, Ramadhani Rajabu is a native of Tanzania and studies Education at The University Of Dodoma, Tanzania. He is very passionate about teaching individuals his mother tongue as well as the proper usage of the kiSwahili Language, which is now an official language of the African Union and East African Community. His passion for the Swahili language is driven by the fact that kiSwahili is the most widely spoken language of sub-Saharan Africa, and is a very important bridge in daily communication & culture on the continent of Africa, and now the entire world.
Course Description:
With over 150 million speakers and growing, students will immerse themselves in the most widely spoken language on the continent of Africa. Swahili is a Bantu language spoken in many countries, including Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo, South Sudan, Somalia, Mozambique, Mayotte, Comoros, Malawi, Uganda, Yemen, and Oman. Students will learn to speak, read, and write in the Swahili language. The course will begin by introducing students to basic Swahili grammar and vocabulary, such as noun classes, verb conjugation, and common phrases. As the course progresses, students will learn more advanced grammar and vocabulary, and will also be exposed to the culture and history of East Africa. A portion of the course will also have a focus on spoken fluency and conversation practice, as well as on reading and understanding written text and news articles.
